The Food Stamp Program, the nation’s premiere defense against hunger, is designed to provide nutritional support to families, working adults, and older adults struggling to purchase nutritious food. However, statewide, approximately 44% of the eligible households are not receiving the Food Stamp benefits for which they are eligible.
Eligibility varies on a case by case basis depending on income or lack thereof, number of people in household, and immigration status. Keep in mind even those who are not citizens or legal residents may have a child or a family member that is a citizen and we can apply for benefits for the household through that family member.
