For Immediate Release Diaspora’s Fall Fete to Celebrate Thirty Years of Community Services BROOKLYN, N.Y. – On November 14th at the Union Square Ballroom, Diaspora Community Services (www.diasporacs.org) will mark thirty years of serving immigrant and low-income populations in Brooklyn and Haiti. “The monies raised will expand our clinic services for the earthquake zone in Haiti. Reports continue to show the need for on-going frontline services to the thousands and thousands of displaced people; and being a part of Diaspora gives me the opportunity to build a baseline of care”, said Diaspora’s Board Chair Jerry Rafael, Director of Financial Services for WWE. “From Haiti to New York City, our frontline doctors, nurses, social workers and community advocates are working tirelessly to bring quality services to families, individuals and teens who walk into our doors each day,” said Carine Jocelyn, Executive Director Diaspora was founded in 1981 as the Haitian Women’s Program to assist the thousands of Haitian refugees fleeing to New York from widespread poverty and political persecution at home. Diaspora’s mission is to empower families and individuals to maximize their abilities to succeed through culturally sensitive health promotion, family support services and advocacy. Diaspora’s Fall Fete will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 10 p.m on Tuesday, November 14th. General admission is $100; entry into the Texas-Hold em’ Tournament is $175.
